How to Stop Facebook from Sharing Your Location When You Update Your Status
Oh, Facebook. Always with the weird, unwelcome, hard-to-undo changes. Ilk a couple weeks ago, I noticed that all of a emergent, every status update I posted included my location!
I'm quite sure I didn't request or enable that feature.
Previously, each update would note the clock it was posted: "8 minutes ago," "2 hours ago," "yesterday," so happening. Now, Facebook tacks on information about where I was when I posted: "near Wolverine Lake," for instance.
Unlike!
If you've detected this besides, you've probably pored through Facebook's settings in hunt of a elbow room to turn it off. Amazingly, thither is zero such setting—non that I could find out, in any event. But there is a way to disable this unwanted location awareness, and IT's hiding in plain sight.
When you snap in the Update Position box, you'll see your closest city listed in the gray bar along the bottom. I probably looked at this a hundred times without actually realizing what it was or why it was there—it exactly sort of snuck under the radio detection and ranging.
Sneak over that city and click the petty 'x' to the right of it. Presto! No more location information tacked onto your position updates. If you want to touch on it, fitting mouse over the now-blank area where the city wont to appear, then click Add live city.
I'm glad this is such an easy change to undo, merely annoyed that Facebook keeps slippery in stuff suchlike this without notifying users or providing a straightforward opt-unstylish option. Your thoughts?
